Mtivity
UX/UI consultancy for a Marketing Acceleration Platform, helping improve an established business application and design new functionality for complex marketing and procurement processes.
Introduction
Mtivity developed a Marketing Acceleration Platform designed to help organisations manage marketing activity, procurement and supplier relationships through a single digital environment. My work with Mtivity focused on improving the user experience of the existing platform while also helping design interfaces for significant new functionality.
The engagement combined UX/UI consultancy with a detailed understanding of complex business processes, including work around dashboards, Guided Buying and Supplier Relationship Management. It provided an opportunity to simplify sophisticated functionality and turn business requirements into interfaces that were clearer and easier for users to understand.

Improving a Complex Business Application
Mtivity was a substantial business platform supporting marketing, procurement and supplier-management activities. With applications of this kind, good UX is particularly important because users need to navigate complex processes and large amounts of information as part of their everyday work.
My role involved reviewing and improving areas of the existing platform while also working on the user experience and interface design for new functionality.
Designing New Platform Functionality
An important part of the engagement involved UX/UI work for features including dashboards, Guided Buying and Supplier Relationship Management.
These functions needed to take potentially complicated business processes and present them in a way that users could understand and navigate effectively. The challenge was therefore not simply to design individual screens, but to understand the underlying processes and determine how users could move through them logically and efficiently.
Turning Complexity into Usable Experiences
Mtivity reinforced the importance of understanding the business problem before designing the interface. Complex functionality does not necessarily require a complex user experience; good UX should help organise information, provide clear choices and guide users through the tasks they need to complete.
That approach — understanding the business requirement, considering the needs of the user and then determining how technology and interface design can best support both — continues to be an important part of my digital consultancy work.
