UX/UI and front-end development for a shared legal service supporting local authorities, creating a professional digital presence for a specialist public-sector organisation.
Introduction
Eastern Legal Partnership was established to provide shared legal services for local authorities, bringing specialist legal expertise together within a collaborative public-sector service.
My work on the project formed part of my wider engagement with the London Borough of Waltham Forest and involved UX/UI and front-end development for the Partnership’s website. The requirement was to create a clear and professional digital presence appropriate to a legal organisation, while making its services and information straightforward for users to understand and navigate.
Creating a Professional Digital Presence
Eastern Legal Partnership needed a website that reflected the professional nature of the organisation while clearly communicating the legal services and expertise it provided.
Unlike some of the more visually led Waltham Forest projects, the emphasis here was on clarity, credibility and straightforward access to information. The interface needed to support the content rather than compete with it, giving users a clear understanding of the Partnership and its services.
Designing Around the Service
My involvement combined UX/UI with front-end development, translating the requirements of a specialist legal service into a practical digital experience.
The project reinforced the importance of designing around the organisation and its audience. A successful interface does not need unnecessary complexity; structure, navigation and presentation should make it easier for users to understand the service and find the information relevant to them.
Part of the Waltham Forest Digital Programme
Eastern Legal Partnership was one of around 15 websites and digital projects I worked on during my extended engagement with the London Borough of Waltham Forest.
Together, those projects covered a remarkably broad range of services and audiences. Eastern Legal Partnership demonstrates the more professional and service-focused end of that work, contrasting with projects such as London Borough of Culture and Marry Me London while drawing on the same underlying principles of usability, appropriate design and effective digital delivery.
