Everything5pounds.com / Market.com

UX/UI consultancy for a fast-moving online fashion retailer, working on the evolution of its e-commerce experience and the development of the Market.com proposition.

Introduction

Everything5pounds.com built a distinctive online retail proposition around selling affordable fashion at a simple price point. My work with the business provided an opportunity to apply UX/UI expertise within a highly commercial e-commerce environment, where product discovery, ease of shopping and conversion were central to the customer experience.

The engagement also encompassed Market.com, extending the work beyond the established Everything5pounds.com proposition. My involvement focused on user experience and interface design, helping shape digital experiences that needed to combine strong product presentation with straightforward customer journeys and the practical demands of a busy online retail business.

Designing for a Fast-Moving E-commerce Business

Fashion e-commerce places particular demands on the user experience. Product ranges change quickly, customers expect to browse efficiently, and the journey from discovering an item to completing a purchase needs to remain straightforward.

For Everything5pounds.com, the distinctive value proposition also needed to be immediately understandable. The interface therefore had to support the commercial proposition while allowing the products themselves to remain at the centre of the shopping experience.

Developing the User Experience

My involvement focused on UX/UI consultancy, looking at how the digital experience could support product discovery, navigation and the wider customer journey.

The work required consideration of both user and commercial needs. In an e-commerce environment, apparently small decisions about navigation, product presentation and interaction can influence how easily customers find what they want and whether they ultimately complete a purchase.

From Everything5pounds.com to Market.com

The engagement also included work associated with Market.com, providing an opportunity to consider the user experience as the business developed its digital proposition beyond the established Everything5pounds.com brand.

This added a broader strategic dimension to the work. Rather than concentrating solely on improvements to an existing e-commerce experience, UX/UI thinking could also contribute to how a new proposition was structured and presented to its intended audience.

Applying UX to Commercial Objectives

The project reinforced the close relationship between user experience and commercial performance in online retail. Good e-commerce UX is not simply about making a website attractive; it should help customers discover products, understand their choices and move through the purchasing journey with as little unnecessary friction as possible.

That combination of user needs, business objectives and practical digital delivery has remained central to my approach to UX/UI and digital consultancy.
