Marry Me London
UX/UI and front-end development for a London Borough of Waltham Forest service designed to help couples discover and plan their perfect wedding venue and ceremony.
Introduction
Marry Me London was created for the London Borough of Waltham Forest to promote its wedding and ceremony services and showcase the range of distinctive venues available across the borough.
The project required a very different digital experience from a conventional council website. With couples making an important and highly personal decision, strong photography and visual presentation needed to work alongside clear, practical information. My involvement combined UX/UI and front-end development, helping create an engaging website that presented the venues attractively while making it straightforward for prospective couples to explore their options and find the information they needed.
Creating a Different Kind of Council Website
Marry Me London demonstrated how varied local-authority digital services can be. Rather than presenting traditional council information, the website needed to inspire couples and communicate the character of the venues and ceremonies available to them.
The user experience therefore needed to balance attractive visual presentation with practical information, allowing visitors to explore possibilities while still being able to find the details needed to take the next step.
Putting the User Journey First
My involvement combined UX/UI and front-end development, helping translate the creative direction into a usable digital experience.
Photography played an important role in presenting the venues, but the interface also needed clear navigation and content structure. The aim was to make moving from initial inspiration to finding information about venues, ceremonies and services feel straightforward and natural.

Marry Me London was one of around 15 websites and digital projects I worked on during my extended engagement with the London Borough of Waltham Forest.
The contrast between this project and other council services illustrates an important aspect of that work. Although the projects shared the same wider organisation, their audiences, objectives and content could be completely different. Each therefore required an approach appropriate to the particular service rather than simply applying a standard council website formula.
